Camp Arcadia is extending a special offer for those in
ministry. If you are qualified and register for either of these retreats:
August 15 - 21, 2009
Family Week or
August 22 - 28, 2009 Family Week,
we will waive the fee for children (or a few of your grandchildren) 13 years and younger when
they accompany you to Camp Arcadia (see
who qualifies).
For over 80 years, Camp Arcadia has been an affordable vacation destination
for families to come and vacation with God. Pastors, teachers, and
other church staff are a staple of our guest population. We know how
hard you work and how much you need to be renewed - in spirit, mind and
body. When you are renewed, you can better serve others.
To register for one of these weeks, simple print out a
registration form, attach a note
stating that you qualify, mail it back to Camp Arcadia with the deposit, and
we'll take care of the rest.
Please spread the word about this special
offer to others who qualify or give them the following web address so they
can check it out for themselves.

Who
Qualifies for This Special Offer?
If you work full-time (or nearly full-time) for a
Lutheran church or school, and you bring your family to one of camp's
special weeks, you qualify for this special offer. You could
alternately bring a few of your grandchildren. The weeks that are subject
the this special offer are August 15 - 21, 2009 or
August 22 - 28, 2009.

Family Week with Rev. Scott Christenson
& Rev. Marc Schwichtenberg
Finding God in Moab
The Old Testament book of Ruth records the
tragic story of Naomi, whose life fell apart in Moab. Though she
couldn’t see it at the time, God was still working in amazing ways.
In these sessions, we’ll explore what God is doing in the “Moab”
experiences of our own lives today.
Scott Christenson, Palatine IL, Dean
Scott Christenson is the Senior Pastor
of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Palatine, Illinois. During the
summer of 2007, Scott served as the Staff Chaplain at Camp Arcadia
during a three month ministry sabbatical. This is his third
opportunity to serve as Dean. He and his wife, Linda, have two
young boys.

Faith on Fire
Too many of us spend too much of our lives
in a perpetual state of lukewarm spiritual boredom. Yet, Paul’s
urging to Timothy (and to us), to “fan into flame the gift of God” is a
clear calling for something more. As he shares further, “God did
not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of
self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord.”
(2 Timothy 1:6-8) In these sessions, we will call on the Lord to
stoke the Spirit’s fire through His Word to prepare us for the spiritual
adventure of a lifetime!
Marc Schwichtenberg, Mt. Prospect IL,
Lecturer
Marc Schwichtenberg serves as Senior
Pastor of Saint Paul Lutheran Church and School in Mount Prospect,
Illinois. He and his wife Shane have two daughters, Abby and
Katy. Marc’s first passion is sharing the eternal, life-changing
love of Jesus with people who think they’re far from God.
Marc’s second passion is equipping others to do the same.

The Tangible God: Relational Pictures God Gives Us of
Himself.
As physical beings we often find it
difficult to grasp spiritual truths. Our Lord, in His wisdom,
understands our need for tangible, touchable evidence of who He is, and
how much He loves us. Throughout Scripture, God paints pictures of
His relationship to us in ways we can understand. Each day we will
look at a different relational picture God has given us of Himself, and
the impact that has on how we perceive Him.
Jessica Bordeleau, St. Louis MO,
Lecturer
Jessica serves a dual call as the
Coordinator of Lutheran Youth Fellowship and Young Adult Ministry
for the LCMS Youth Ministry Office, and as the DCE of Timothy
Lutheran, a diverse urban church in St Louis. She has served
in congregational, camp, and youth ministry for nine years, and
earned her MA in Systematic Theology at Concordia Seminary in St
Louis. She lives in St. Louis with her husband, Adrian.
