The Story of the Lutheran Camp Association (LCA)
This is a
story of faith and love. It's a story that should be told over and
over again to all who come to Camp Arcadia so they may share in the rich
spiritual heritage which the Christian fellowship at Camp Arcadia
treasures.
The LCA is a non-profit corporation of Michigan and was organized in 1968
to own and operate Camp Arcadia. One of its first tasks was to
purchase Camp Arcadia from the International Walther League. The
families who comprised the LCA at that time had great faith and foresight,
and with their gifts and loans launched an effort to perpetuate Camp
Arcadia as a place for future Christian families to gain spiritual and
physical renewal.
Since 1968 the LCA membership has grown to include over 830 individuals
and families. These concerned Arcadians have contributed their
money, a lot of enthusiasm, and much personal effort to maintain
Camp Arcadia.
The association has an annual membership meeting at which time a Board of
Directors is elected. This Board then plans the season's program,
sets the rates, chooses the staff and makes decisions relevant to the
operation of the coming camp season.
LCA/Camp Arcadia has been generously blessed with over 100 acres of
Michigan dunes country including Lake Michigan beach. It is the
perfect setting for Arcadia's style and philosophy of program which
emphasizes a VACATION WITH GOD, WHERE THE FAMILY IS CENTRAL... not just
your own family... the family of God in fellowship.
The interest and enthusiasm which Camp guests radiate regarding their
Arcadia experience is contagious, and so over the past years the number of
participants in the camp family has increased annually. We expect
this trend to continue. As old and new Arcadians actively
participate in the daily program of worship, Bible study and fellowship,
lasting friendships are formed and exciting spiritual growth takes place.
Camp Arcadia is God's place! People who come here are strengthened and
renewed and joyfully return home to love and serve others. If you
want the LCA to continue this ministry, then you should be an LCA member.
We invite you to join this special organization. As a shareholder we
know you will take a deeper personal interest in helping Camp Arcadia
carry on its mission of "RE-CREATION".
